Compatible with NICE BusT4 / Opera Automation

The NICE IT4WIFI is intended for compatible NICE Gate & Door control units equipped with a BusT4 port or a connector that accepts the supplied IBT4N interface.

It should not be advertised as universally compatible with every NICE gate motor simply because the motor is manufactured by NICE.

The important compatibility requirement is the control unit and its BusT4 / Opera connection.

BusT4 Connection

The IT4WIFI communicates with the automation through NICE BusT4 technology.

Where the control unit has a direct BusT4 socket, the supplied cable connects the interface to that socket.

Where the automation uses an IBT4N-compatible connection, the supplied IBT4N interface is used between the controller and IT4WIFI.

Official Package Contents

According to the NICE IT4WIFI manual, the standard kit includes:

  • 1 × NICE IT4WIFI Wi-Fi Interface
  • 1 × NICE IBT4N Interface
  • 1 × RJ-11 Connection Cable, 6-position / 4-contact

Always check the physical box before promising any additional accessories.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Only

The IT4WIFI uses 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz.

This is important during router configuration. Do not advertise the product as a 5 GHz Wi-Fi device.

If a customer's router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks under one name, installation may require ensuring that the IT4WIFI can correctly join the supported 2.4 GHz network.

Wi-Fi Coverage Is Required at the Installation Point

NICE specifies that the IT4WIFI installation position must be covered by the property's Wi-Fi access-point signal.

Poor Wi-Fi coverage can result in unreliable smartphone operation even when the gate automation itself is functioning correctly.

Up to 100 M BusT4 Cable Placement Option

NICE documentation states that where necessary to reach suitable Wi-Fi coverage, the IT4WIFI can be positioned in a protected environment using a BusT4 connection cable up to approximately 100 metres.

This does not mean the Wi-Fi range itself is 100 metres. The 100 m figure refers to the possible BusT4 cable distance used to position the interface closer to reliable Wi-Fi coverage.

Smartphone Gate Control

Once correctly configured, IT4WIFI allows supported gate and garage-door functions to be controlled using a compatible smartphone.

Available commands depend on the selected operating technology and the connected NICE control unit.

Gate Status Monitoring

The IT4WIFI is designed not only to send movement commands but also to provide automation status information where supported by the connected control unit and app configuration.

HomeKit or MyNice Technology

The official IT4WIFI manual provides two configuration technologies:

  • Apple HomeKit
  • MyNice technology

These two operating technologies cannot function simultaneously on the same IT4WIFI configuration.

The chosen technology can only be changed after resetting and reconfiguring the interface.

Apple HomeKit Mode

In the documented HomeKit configuration, compatible Apple devices can use supported gate or garage-door functions through Apple's Home ecosystem.

NICE documentation lists:

  • Open
  • Stop
  • Close
  • Siri voice-command compatibility
  • Remote operation with the required HomeKit / Internet setup

MyNice Mode

The documented MyNice technology supports compatible NICE Gate & Door control units using BusT4 / Opera.

Depending on the connected automation, movement commands can include:

  • Open
  • Close
  • Stop
  • Partial opening
  • Other supported movement commands

Android Compatibility

The original NICE IT4WIFI manual specifies Android smartphone compatibility through the MyNice technology.

Because mobile operating systems, apps and cloud services change over time, always verify the currently available NICE app and supported smartphone version before promising app compatibility to a customer.

iPhone Compatibility

The NICE manual documents iPhone support through either the HomeKit or MyNice setup.

Again, current app availability and current iOS support should be checked before installation because IT4WIFI is an older smart-interface platform.

Siri Voice Control

When configured using the appropriate Apple HomeKit setup, NICE documentation supports compatible Siri voice commands.

Voice operation depends on the Apple ecosystem, Internet connectivity, security settings and the configured automation.

Remote Gate Control Through the Internet

IT4WIFI can support remote smartphone control where the selected technology, app and network configuration provide Internet access.

Do not describe this as an independent GSM controller.

The IT4WIFI requires a working local Wi-Fi network and appropriate Internet connectivity for remote cloud-based control.

IT4WIFI Is Not a GSM Gate Opener

Feature NICE IT4WIFI GSM Gate Opener
Communication Wi-Fi / Internet Mobile SIM Network
SIM Card No Normally Yes
Local Network Required Yes No Local Wi-Fi Required
Automation Connection NICE BusT4 / Opera Usually Dry-Contact Relay
Compatibility Compatible NICE BusT4 Systems Usually Wider Relay-Input Compatibility

IT4WIFI Is Not a Universal Dry-Contact Wi-Fi Relay

The NICE IT4WIFI should not be marketed like a generic Wi-Fi smart relay.

Its main automation connection is through the NICE BusT4 / Opera communication system.

If a gate controller has no compatible BusT4 or IBT4N interface connection, IT4WIFI should not be assumed compatible.

24V Input

The official NICE technical specification lists an input voltage of 24V.

The interface receives its required supply through the intended NICE installation architecture and should be installed according to the official BusT4 connection instructions.

30 mA Current Consumption

IT4WIFI has a listed current consumption of approximately 30 mA.

700 mW Maximum Input Power

NICE specifies a maximum power input of approximately 700 mW.

Wi-Fi Security Support

The official manual lists compatibility with:

  • OPEN networks
  • WEP
  • WPA-PSK
  • WPA2-PSK

For a modern installation, a properly secured WPA2 network is preferable where supported by the router and IT4WIFI.

SMA Antenna Connector

The unit uses an SMA antenna connector.

A correct antenna connection is important for stable Wi-Fi operation.

IP30 Protection

The NICE IT4WIFI has an official protection rating of IP30.

This is a major installation point: do not describe IT4WIFI as waterproof or as an outdoor weatherproof device.

It should be installed inside a suitable automation enclosure or another protected environment.

Not for Direct Outdoor Exposure

Because the device is IP30, it should be protected from:

  • Rain
  • Water spray
  • Condensation
  • Dust accumulation
  • Direct outdoor weather exposure

Operating Temperature

The official operating-temperature range is -20°C to +50°C.

For UAE installations, the control enclosure should not allow the IT4WIFI to be exposed to excessive internal temperatures beyond its specification.

Storage Temperature

NICE specifies a storage range of approximately -25°C to +70°C.

Humidity Range

The documented humidity range is approximately 15% to 85%.

Compact Dimensions

The IT4WIFI body measures approximately 58 × 63 × 24 mm, excluding the SMA antenna connector and antenna.

This compact format makes it suitable for installation inside compatible control enclosures where sufficient protected space is available.

60 g Weight

The official device weight is approximately 60 grams.

Compatible Sliding Gate Applications

The NICE IT4WIFI can be used with compatible NICE sliding gate control units equipped with the required BusT4 / Opera connection.

Compatibility is determined by the control unit, not simply by the sliding gate motor's name or weight capacity.

Compatible Swing Gate Applications

Compatible NICE swing gate controllers using BusT4 / Opera can also be connected to the IT4WIFI.

Always verify the exact controller model before supplying the interface.

Garage Door Automation

NICE explicitly documents IT4WIFI for compatible gate and garage-door automation.

For garage-door systems, supported app functions depend on the controller and the selected HomeKit or MyNice technology.

Partial Opening

In the documented MyNice configuration, compatible Gate & Door control units can support movement commands including partial opening.

This is useful for pedestrian access where the connected automation supports a partial-opening function.

Geolocation Function

Earlier official NICE product literature described geolocation-based actions using smartphone GPS, such as opening or closing the automation when the smartphone reaches a configured distance.

Because this depends on the historic MyNice software ecosystem and smartphone permissions, I recommend presenting it as a documented platform feature subject to current app availability, not as a guaranteed current feature.

Scheduled Actions

NICE's original IT4WIFI literature also documented scheduled automation actions on supported app configurations.

Again, current availability should be verified before advertising this as a guaranteed function because app and cloud services can change over time.

Important App Availability Note

The IT4WIFI hardware remains documented by NICE, but it is an earlier-generation smart interface.

Before selling or installing it for a customer who specifically requires smartphone, Siri, HomeKit, MyNice or remote-cloud operation, verify that the required current app/service is still available and supported on the customer's phone and network.

NICE IT4WIFI vs BiDi-WiFi

Do not automatically describe IT4WIFI and NICE BiDi-WiFi as the same accessory.

They are separate NICE products intended for different programming and smart-control workflows.

Use the exact model specified for the customer's automation and desired function.

NICE IT4WIFI vs Gate Remote Control

Feature NICE IT4WIFI NICE Remote
Control Device Smartphone Handheld Transmitter

Important IBT4N Installation Warning

NICE warns that inserting the IBT4N incorrectly can permanently damage the automation control unit.

For this reason, professional installation is recommended where the installer is not familiar with the controller interface.

IT4WIFI LED Indications

The IT4WIFI has status LEDs used during installation and troubleshooting.

After correct hardware installation, the NICE manual indicates that the relevant installation LED should show the expected green status before proceeding with app configuration.

IT4WIFI Cannot Find Wi-Fi

If the interface cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network, check:

  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi availability
  • Router signal strength
  • Correct Wi-Fi password
  • Supported Wi-Fi security mode
  • Bonjour support where required
  • Distance between router and interface
  • Antenna connection

App Cannot Find IT4WIFI

Check that the smartphone and IT4WIFI are using the required network and that the router settings support the discovery service required by the selected configuration.

Gate Works by Remote but Not by Wi-Fi

If normal gate remotes work but IT4WIFI does not, check:

  • IT4WIFI power
  • BusT4 connection
  • IBT4N orientation
  • Wi-Fi connection
  • App configuration
  • Internet connection for remote functions
  • User administrator permissions

Administrator and Additional Users

The first user associated with IT4WIFI becomes the device administrator under the documented configuration.

The administrator can then enable or invite additional users according to the selected technology and app.

Changing Operating Technology

HomeKit and MyNice modes cannot be used simultaneously.

Changing from one operating technology to the other requires resetting and reconfiguring the IT4WIFI.

Security Recommendations

  • Use a secured Wi-Fi network
  • Use a strong router password
